Have you ever had a burning desire to watch your enemies crumble menoth-faction-logo-thumbbefore your zealous onslaught?  Do you like big, stompy robots, heavily armored paladins, flamethrowers, and denying your opponents?  Perhaps you possess a particular proclivity for Protectorate pyrotechnics?

If you answered “yes” to any of these questions (and even if you answered “no” to all of them) then the Protectorate of Menoth is for you!  A massive force made up of heavily armored knights, zealous warcasters, and metal-melting machines, the Protectorate of Menoth is the Warmachine force you have been searching for.

Located in the blistering desert lands of Southwestern Bloodstone, most of the lands under the purview of the Protectorate border the Gulf of Cygnar.  Having lost a civil war to Cygnar many years previous, the Protectorate of Menoth are the surviving faithful of that great catastrophe.  Through faith, sweat, and perseverance, those of the Menite faith have since carved out their own empire led by castes of priests, scrutators, and the Heirarch himself (all led and guided by the ever-watchful god, Menoth).

In terms of gameplay, the Protectorate of Menoth is widely considered to be one of the best-balanced factions in the game of Warmachine.  Having such excellent internal balance allows for many combinations in terms of list-building, opening doors for creativity and diverse lists relatively unheard of in other factions.  Consider this recent poll taken on the Protectorate of Menoth Facebook page:

This poll, asking “Who Is Your Favorite Warcaster”, shows such a wide spread of votes and is indicative of the great many options for list-building within the Protectorate of Menoth faction.  With the exception of a few outliers on the top end of the poll as well as on the bottom end, most of our warcasters can happily claim a decent smattering of votes.  What does this mean for you, the inquiring young acolyte?  It means that we have a plethora of excellent offerings here in the Protectorate.  You like the sculpt of a particular warcaster?  Chances are there’s a way to build a list that will really make that warcaster shine.  Or perhaps you want to play a warcaster that excels at running a large list of heavy warjacks?  We have lots of those.  Maybe you’re a person who likes to have as many models on the board as possible – we have warcasters that excel at having a lot of units on the table.  Whatever your play style is, the Protectorate of Menoth has the tools you need to dominate and annihilate your enemies.

So, you have made your decision – you want to join our swelling ranks.  Excellent.  Where do you start?  As with most factions, our battlebox is widely considered a great place to start.  This box comes with Malekus, The Burning Truth (a warcaster who excels at crispyfying things), a Castigator (punchy robot, burns things), a Repenter (flamethrower robot, burns things) and a Revenger (a light warjack with an arc node that helps his warcaster burn things).

Another excellent place to start would be with Severius 1.  Severius 1 (or Sevvy 1) is widely considered to be a “noob-friendly” warcaster, meaning he’s easy to pick up and start playing with right away.  He is a powerful warcaster who runs warjacks and units equally well, giving them all a small bonus to hit with attacks as well as to damage.

Not interested?  Rather jump straight in to the really good stuff?  According to the poll, Thyra, Flame of Sorrow as well as Severius 2 are the favorites so far.  Thyra plays a lightning fast guerrilla warfare game and is always threatening a warcaster assassination.  Severius 2 gives his warjacks the ability to shrug off damage like it was nothing.  Both are excellent options and are amongst the best offerings that the Protectorate of Menoth has for warcasters.

templar_by_andreauderzoLet’s move on to warjacks, the big stompy robots.  We have a great selection of these as well, with some of the best light warjacks in the game.  Some of our better offerings include the Crusader (cheap, heavy beatstick), the Eye of Truth, the Dervish, the Devout, and the Vigilant.  Most of our warjacks come very well-costed and get a lot of work done.  We have a great selection of arc nodes in our faction as well, ensuring that your caster will get those spells in to those hard-to-reach places.

And to back up these mechanical monstrosities, we have the famed Choir of Menoth.  Mandatory in any list that includes warjacks (which every list does), these singers-of-songs not only spur our warjacks on to do greater damage, but they can also protect them from ranged and magic attacks.  Keep them safe though, these choir boys are squishy.

Finally, we have a great selection of units and solos as well.  From mounted knights to angry widows-turned-assassins, we can really bring the hurt to our enemies.  One unique thing about our faction (other than all the flames everywhere) is our great number of units with the Weaponmaster benefit.  If you don’t already know, Weaponmaster grants an additional die on damage rolls – a huge swing in our favor.  And, happily, many of our units, solos, and warcasters have this trait.  We are not as large of a ranged threat as, say, Cygnar, but you definitely do not want us in your face with our burninating swords.

Some of our best units include (but are not limited to) the Knights Exemplar, Vengers, Daughters of the Flame, Choir of Menoth, Flamebringers, and Errants.

Some of our best solo units include Allegiants of the Order of the Fist (hard to kill kicky-monks), Paladins of the Order of the Wall (tanky Weaponmasters!), Knights Exemplar Seneschals (self-resurrecting Weaponmasters!), the Covenant of Menoth (giant book of denial), Vassals of Menoth (focus-giving-freaks), and Vassal Mechaniks (to put bandaids on warjack booboos).  And let’s not forget the Wrack solo, which gives our warcasters an extra focus each turn.

In conclusion, we are a faction that loves to burn things, loves to deny our enemies the things they want to do (Covenant of Menoth says no spells!), and we can be very focus-efficient with the help of Vassals and Wracks.  Whether you prefer to run lists full of beefy warjacks or lists that take up an entire side of the board, we have something for you in our faction.  With great internal balance and boundless opportunities for list-building, the Protectorate of Menoth will welcome you in its (very) warm embrace.  Welcome to the fold.  Did we mention we like to burn things?
